A spokesperson for the state utllity said crews are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Tramore, following what was described as "a significant burst".
Water supply disruptions are likely to impact customers on Queen's Street and surrounding areas as a result of the burst.
"Every effort is being made to complete this repair work as quickly as possible," said the spokesperson.
It's expected the repairs will be completed by this afternoon, Wednesday, August 6 and updated on the progress of the repair works will be provided.
Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, thanked affected customers for their cooperation during these repair works.
“We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused," she said.
"We want to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible," she added.
However, she also pointed out the repairs were proving "to be quite complex".
To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs, and for the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
"Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours," said Ms Phelan.
