Uisce Éireann appeals to the public in Waterford to reduce water use

Uisce Éireann is appealing to everyone in Waterford to be mindful of their water usage.

Following an increase in water usage by households and businesses, customers are being asked to be mindful of their usage, allowing the supply to catch up with demand and enabling reservoirs to replenish fully.

Uisce Éireann is closely monitoring all water supplies across the county, a spokesperson said.

To help maintain a normal supply for all customers in Co Waterford, Uisce Éireann is implementing measures such as tankering to reservoirs, nighttime restrictions, and pressure management.

Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager in Waterford, said, “Water demand has risen noticeably across Waterford in recent weeks.

"While the expected rainfall may provide some short-term relief, it takes time for water sources to recover fully.

"We’re asking everyone across the county to continue conserving water.

"Even small changes in daily habits can make a big difference, helping to protect our water supply and ensure a more reliable service for all.

"We’re doing everything we can to protect and maintain water supplies throughout the summer, but we also need the public’s support.

"If everyone in Waterford takes a few simple steps to reduce water use at home, in the garden, and at work, we can make our water go further and help maintain a normal supply for all.”
