Man with 64 previous convictions back in Waterford court

A man who has a large number of previous convictions for thefts and burglary landed himself back in court last week for a recent drug-related offence.
Denis Ozturk, of 127 Clonard Park, Ballybeg, Waterford city, caught the attention of gardaí again in July 2025, when officers noticed a smell of cannabis coming from Ozturk when he was in Waterford Garda Station. Gardaí seized €50 worth of cannabis from his person.
In total, Ozturk has 64 previous convictions. His defence solicitor informed a judge last week, however, that his client has been taking progressive steps in recent times.
Ozturk did not receive further penalty for the drug offence. Instead, the charge was taken into consideration with sentences he received previously from the District Court.
