Long-awaited transformation of former Tramore CBS is greenlit
Tramore CBS
Plans have been approved for the construction of 12 residential apartments at the former Christian Brothers Secondary School in Tramore.
The building has been vacant since 2014, when the secondary school relocated to a new campus building within the town.
Since its closure, the derelict site has been a shorn in the side of residents and local representatives.
Over the years, the site has become increasingly overgrown and dilapidated, and a growing number of anti-social behaviour incidents have been reported.
However, plans submitted by Keybuild Services Ltd in June of this year have now been given the greenlight by the local planning authority.
Approved at the site is the development of 2 one-bed units and 2 two-bed units at the lower ground floor.
On the upper ground floor, there will be 3 one-bed units and 1 two-bed unit.
Approved on the first floor is the construction of 3 one-bed units and 1 two-bed unit.
The works will involve re-fenestration of the existing elevations to accommodate a new layout and the addition of balconies at the upper levels.
Also greenlit is the removal of an existing prefabricated classroom building from the site, alterations and adjustments of existing site boundaries and the conversion of an existing outbuilding to a bin store.
A bike store, bulk storage and on-site parking will be developed.
Waterford City and County Council granted permission this week, subject to ten planning conditions.
