Twenty homes planned in Lismore

Twenty new homes are being planning is Lismore.

Back in May of last year, the development spearheaded by David Flynn Limited was refused permission to proceed, with the planning authority citing water and drainage capacity issues.

The refusal was a source of significant disappointment for locals in the area.

Waterford TD Conor McGuinness described the refusal as "deeply frustrating" at the time.

Meanwhile, local Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy called the refusal "a blow for West Waterford."

“We need more homes in towns like Lismore. We need them for working people, for older residents, and for young families who want to stay in their own community" he said.

This week, a fresh application was submitted, which will consist of the construction of twenty residential units, consisting of 8 one-bed apartments, 8 two-bed apartments, and a terrace 4 two-storey, 3-bed houses.

All houses are “own-door” and will have rear private gardens.

Also planned is 29 car parking spaces.

The subject site is located on the Mayfield Road less than 0.5km outside of Lismore town centre.

Decision is expected from the local authority by March 9.
