Davitt’s Quay temporarily closed for improvement works

Davitt’s Quay in Dungarvan will be temporarily closed today, Monday, September 14, to facilitate improvement works of the seawall.

Cumnor Construction has been awarded the contract for works at the Dungarvan seawall under the Local Marine Infrastructure Fund, Waterford City and County Council has confirmed.

The project is aimed at providing greater structural stability to the seawall and as part of the preparations, Cumnor Construction will carry out trial holes on Davitt’s Quay near the Castle end today.

This means a temporary closure will be in place for Davitt’s Quay from the car park near Harbour Bay to the Moorings.

Diversion signage will be in place while the closure is in operation.

Further temporary closures will be required for short periods once the main construction work gets underway, Waterford City and County Council has said.

The dates for those closures have yet to be confirmed by the council, but further information is expected to be issued through MapAlerter once the schedule is known.
