Transport Minister remains quiet on Waterford Airport

Waterford Airport
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien has still not responded to a letter sent to his office from Waterford Council regarding Waterford Airport.
Cllr Mary Roche asked for an update on the letter during last week's Plenary meeting.
She said, "In relation to the letter to the Minister, has there been any response regarding Waterford Airport? We are making decisions here today regarding our Capital Plan and it would be pertinent to have information back from the Minister prior to that."
It was confirmed at the meeting that no response had been received.
Cllr Roche added, “Can I just clarify then that the Minister has not agreed to meet a delegation from the Council as requested in relation to the airport?"
Mayor of Waterford City and County Council, Cllr Jason Murphy replied, "We’ve had no response.”
Meanwhile, it was also revealed at the meeting by Council Chief Executive Sean McKeown, that he would not be in favour of the local authority borrowing money themselves to fund the airport's runway extension.
