A talk will take place in Waterford this month based around the traditions of St Brigid.

Join author and former teacher Síle Murphy for an engaging lunchtime talk exploring the rich traditions and folklore surrounding one of Ireland’s most beloved Patron Saints.

It will take place on Thursday, January 29, from 1.15pm to 2pm in the Garden Room of Waterford's Medieval Museum.

Through stories and local legends, Síle will trace the path St Brigid took through Ireland, with a special focus on Waterford and the surrounding area.

The talk will also delve into the significance of St Brigid’s Holy Wells, their history, and their place in Irish tradition.

Attendees might even get a chance to have a close look at a St Brigid’s Cross, learning how it is made and the symbolism behind it.

This talk will transport people back to their school days, rekindling the stories and customs around St. Brigid’s Day.

Book tickets online or at the Medieval Museum reception.

The cost of attending will be €5 per person and all proceeds will go towards the museum’s Conservation and Acquisitions Fund.
