Suspect left behind a key piece of evidence at scene of hit and run in Waterford

Gardaí in Waterford are investigating an incident of a hit and run in Waterford county.
The incident happened between 7:30pm and 7:40pm on Sunday, September 21.
A car struck the handlebars of the bike and knocked the cyclist to the ground.
The motorist did not remain at the scene but did leave behind the casing of the left wing mirror of the vehicle.
This was recovered, and from this, gardaí have established that the suspect vehicle is a gun-metal grey colour Seat Leon manufactured in 2018 or after.
The cyclist was travelling on the R676 Leamybrien to Mahon bridge, and the incident took place between the bridge over the river Tay and Gortnalaught.
A spokesperson for the gardaí said: “If you can assist in identifying this vehicle or if you are the owner, we would like to hear from you.”
