The Southern Regional Assembly has issued calls to the people of Waterford and the wider South of Ireland to aid in plans for the region’s future development.

The Assembly, based on O’Connell Street in Waterford City, is involved in the management of European Regional Development Fund programmes and represents 1.7 million people in counties across the Southeast, Southwest, and Midwest.

A new 2027-2040 Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) will be developed that will include new strategic plans for Waterford’s metropolitan area.

“This review is an early opportunity for people to share their ideas on the big issues that will shape the region for the next decade and beyond,” a statement from the Assembly said.

“Your views can help influence the themes and priorities that matter most for where you live.”

The Assembly has called for residents' views on plans for the homes, services and amenities, communities, environmental action, energy independence, transport system and economic development.

Residents can share their views via a web portal, post, or email. Submissions will be accepted up until 22 May.
