Southeast Greenway updates heard at meeting

At the meeting of the Piltown Municipal District, Director of Services Ian Gardner gave updates on the progress of the Southeast Greenway.
According to the latest updates, of the 24km’s of Greenway some 13km’s are now open to the public.
The remaining section of Curraghmore and Ballyverneen is in progress.
As per the report: "Following the opening of Phase 2 in June, the Design Team are continuing to progress the detailed design of the section of greenway between Curraghmore and Ballyverneen, which is approximately 9km in length. The landowner liaison team continue to engage with affected landowners along this section to agree final design layouts and accommodation works."
Regarding the Mount Eliot/ Red Bridge section: "The detailed design of Lot 4 is awaiting TII approval to progress to tender. The Part 8 masterplan for the Rosbercon Trailhead has been approved by Wexford County Council."
A number of updates were shared regarding related schemes, including those within the Ferrybank area.
Mr Gardner said: "The Design Team have completed the detailed design for both the South/North Link Road and Greenway Trailhead Carpark."
He added: "As part of this project, a Section 38 planning application will be made for the Pink Rock Loop, which will offer users a scenic alternative to the Greenway following the banks of the River Barrow and crossing under the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge. The Section 38 application is expected to be advertised shortly."
The Design Team have begun work on the detail design for the Greenway link to Glenmore, including the procurement of various surveys. As the team carries out their work, discussions with the affected landowners will continue with 'regard to the acquisition of lands required to deliver the project'.
For the Slieverue link: "Efforts are continuing to identify potential funding streams to advance this project through detail design, land acquisition and construction stage."
Finally, the Design Team are managing deliverables in relation to the Woodstock to South East Greenway Link (Nore Valley Greenway) per the guidelines of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
