South Quays Plaza at Clock Tower due for completion this month

Works are progressing at the South Quays Plaza at the Clock Tower in Waterford city.

The plaza forms part of the sustainable transport bridge development, with the historic Clock Tower as a focal point.

It will provide a landscaped public realm area with seating, lighting, green area and bicycle facilities.

Despite previous delays, officials confirmed this week that works are now well advanced.

Paving is 90% complete and the area has become partially open to the public.

Works are expected to be complete in March.

Snagging checks and safety audits will then be completed, with the full area opening to the public shortly after.

Public access to the sustainable transport bridge from the plaza will be closed off and secured until the bridge opens in 2027.
