Sign up for Guinness World Record attempt during Fleadh Cheoil

Calling all whistle players to register for the attempt of setting the Guinness World Record during the Wexford Fleadh.
As Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann arrives at the doorstep of our South Eastern neighbours in Wexford next week, not only will the streets be filled with music and dancing, but there's also an attempt to break a Guinness World Record.
The aim is to set a new record for the largest group of musicians playing the tin whistle over a continuous 5-minute period, which seems only right, considering the Guinness World Records were established in a small village on the outskirts of Wexford town, in Castlebridge.

On Thursday, August 8 at 4.30pm, people of all ages are invited by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the Wexford 2024 FEC to join them in their attempt to set the new record in Chadwicks Wexford Park. The songs to be played are The Boys of Wexford and The Dawning of the Day, with 1,015 being the current record of people and a target of 1,200 has been set.

Just over 750 people have already registered to take part, with one of the Wexford organisers, John Ryan, recently stating that, "Excitement is starting to build. There are plenty of spaces still left to join the record attempt."
"We need as much support as we can get, so keep spreading the word," he added.
