The woman was charged with three counts of Section 4 Theft.

A woman charged with multiple thefts from stores in Waterford appeared in court last week.

Ruslana Balesko (58), with addresses at 39 Ballytruckle Road, Waterford and Lissananny Beg, Ballymote, Sligo, was charged with three counts of Section 4 Theft.

On January 10, she stole €109 worth of clothing from TK Maxx. The following month, on February 26, she stole items from Holland & Barrett to the value of €67. A month later on March 25, she stole €50 worth of items from the same store.

The woman's defence said that she recently arrived to live in Ireland following the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

For the theft from TK Maxx committed in January, Judge Kevin Staunton convicted and sentenced the woman to six months. The other theft matters were taken into consideration.
