SETU seeks world’s best for Global Talent Ireland initiative

South East Technological University (SETU) inviting expressions of interest from outstanding researchers based outside of Ireland for the Global Talent Ireland 2025 initiative.
Funded by Research Ireland, the GTI is a national programme offering the Rising Star award (5 to 15 years post-PhD) which is designed to attract world-class talent to Ireland and support the development of ambitious, independent research careers.
"We look forward to welcoming visionary researchers who will shape the future of SETU’s research ecosystem and deliver meaningful global impact,” said Professor Marie Claire Van Hout, SETU Vice President Research, Innovation & Impact.
She said the university, which has main campuses in Waterford and Carlow along with a smaller campus in Wexford, is seeking exceptional candidates with a strong track record, international ambition, and a research vision aligned with the university’s research themes: Information and communication technologies; Environment, bioeconomy and sustainability; Pharmaceutical, chemical and biological sciences; Engineering and advanced manufacturing; Health, well-being, sport and physical activity; Business, finance, entrepreneurship and management practice; Creativity, culture and society.
Successful applicants will receive significant funding and institutional support to establish or relocate their research programmes to SETU.
In welcoming the call for worldwide talent, Prof Van Hout said: “We are proud to support the Global Talent Ireland programme and look forward to welcoming visionary researchers who will shape the future of SETU’s research ecosystem and deliver meaningful global impact.” Expressions of interest are now open and will remain so until 1pm on August 11.
