Multiple rescue efforts were carried out recently in Waterford.

The South East Mountain Rescue Association assisted a fallen walker in the Comeragh Mountains last week, after she slipped on wet ground.

The walker who was with a local club, injured her ankle and club members looked after her while SEMRA members responded.

The casualty was ready to be carried out by SEMRA when the Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 117 appeared overhead on a training flight. They were able to land and the casualty was carried into the helicopter for transport to hospital.

All team members got safely off the hill at 6.19pm and a stand down was issued.

Meanwhile, Waterford Marine Search & Rescue volunteers launched its lifeboat in the early hours last week to reports of a person in distress at Rice Bridge.

Waterford City Fire and Rescue Service and An Garda Síochána also took part in the efforts, and thankfully the person was located safe and well, on land and all units were stood down.
