A record-breaking 4,800 people took part in this year's Run & Walk for Solas, showing unprecedented support for those affected by cancer across Waterford and beyond.
Held over two days in Dungarvan and Waterford City, the event is now in its 18th year and remains one of the region's biggest charity fundraisers.
The event was launched by the Mayor of Waterford City and County Cllr Liam Brazil. Last year's fundraiser raised €230,000 towards the €1.2 million annual cost of running Solas' services.
Among those taking part was Waterford man Adam Moloney, who was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer, Leiomyosarcoma, in September 2023 at the age of 30.
Mr Moloney said Solas had transformed his experience of living with cancer through counselling, reflexology and the centre's Men's group.
"Since reaching out to Solas, my whole approach to life while fighting this battle has completely changed," he said.
Thanking participants, he added: "You are helping people like us. You might not know our names, but every step you take is carrying us."
Tracy McDaid, manager of Solas Cancer Support Centre, thanked the thousands who participated and described the event as the charity's main annual fundraiser and a vital source of funding for its free services.
The Solas Run & Walk event operates annually and will return next year.
