We are delighted to announce that the raffle of the Festive Star Christmas annual cover painting, by artist Lisa Keane, raised €550 for the fantastic Juniors for Juniors charity, which supports the Children's Ward at University Hospital Waterford.

"We are delighted that the gorgeous cover painting of Festive Star, featuring a beautiful Christmas scene of Waterford's quayside, with the elegant Granville Hotel, Winterval's Waterford Eye and the Clock Tower, has been able to support such a great cause," said Mary Frances Ryan, Editor, Waterford News & Star.

"We have seen the amazing work done by Juniors for Juniors for the children's ward at UHW, it is truly remarkable."

Joe Daly, co-founder of Juniors for Juniors, added: "We are thrilled, not only for the fundraising aspect, but for creating awareness around the important work that the charity is doing.

"We are so grateful for all the little kids in Waterford schools at the moment raising money for sick children - this is a brilliant boost to all their work as well.

"It just shows that all the community are getting together, the little ones and the big ones. It's just incredible when the Waterford community gets together, what we can achieve together.

"In the ward now we have beautiful murals, new televisions, new beds, a whole new sensory room, which is just incredible - it's working really, really well.

"Our next focus is on creating an environment for the families as well as the kids, who also have to spend so much time in the ward."

Juniors for Juniors thanked artist Lisa Keane and the team at the Waterford News & Star for their continued support.

"It is appreciated by everyone in Juniors for Juniors and by the staff and families in the Children’s Ward at University Hospital Waterford," said Mr Daly.
