Parking issues and closed facilities at Waterford's Clonea Beach irk visitors

Clonea Beach, Co. Waterford.

Visitors to Clonea Beach are coming up against narrow roads and locked facilities. Councillor Thomas Phelan said at a recent meeting: "The toilets there seem to be getting locked at 7 o'clock, which, in the middle of summer during a heatwave, seems very early."

He also raised the issue of parking: "It's barely single lane traffic on a busy day when people park down there. If an ambulance had to get down there I'd be very worried. Can we look at future land acquisition for more parking and widening the road?"

A member of the Executive team later responded: "There are four carparks in the space of two kilometres."
