“The impact of the Local Enhancement Programme is considerable” Minister Butler said.

€236,645 in fundi in funding is being provided for 150 community projects in Waterford.

The funding is being allocated under the Local Enhancement Programme 2025, which provides small-scale funding for projects will be provided to the groups, which range from purchasing IT equipment to minor renovations to buildings and this year also provided an opportunity to groups to apply for help with their operational costs.

Announcing the allocations, Government Chief Whip & Minister for Mental Health, Mary Butler TD said: “Great credit is due to the people who make up our Local Community Development Committees and the amazing work they do on behalf of their local areas. We are welcoming this funding for Waterford communities because of their sterling efforts and diligence."

Minister Butler thanked Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD for overseeing the national funding provision.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2025 was launched with a total funding of €7 million available, which included €1 million in current funding to support local groups.

“The impact of the Local Enhancement Programme is considerable” Minister Butler said, adding: "It allows community groups to carry out the invaluable work they do on behalf of others in local areas throughout the country.

 “The funding also provides capital supports essential for the many small community groups and organisations, particularly those who serve disadvantaged areas in rural and urban areas."

Local groups receiving significant funding include BRILL FRC Ballybeg (€4,800), Clonea Power Old School CLG (€3,000), Dungarvan Community First Responder Group (€4,500), Dungarvan GAA Club (€5,000), Dungarvan United AFC (€6,085), Manor St. John Youth Services (€5,500) and Tramore Basketball Club (€4,500)
