The final deadline for submissions for this year's Waterford International Film Festival is coming quickly, closing this week, on Friday, 14 August.

Submissions for short films and short screenplays can be submitted on the Waterford film festival website, with awards for best short film and best short film screenplay, best music video, best short animation and best documentary, best international short, student or debut short and best trailer.

Entries for the festival's movie-themed photography competition are also closed on Friday, August 14, with three shots allowed per entry.

This year's festival marks the twentieth edition of the awards, which were founded in 2007 by filmmaker Stephen Bryne.

Each year the festival receives submissions from across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Australia and South America, connecting local audiences with international voices.

A curated selection of finalist films will be presented during the festival's live screenings in Waterford later this year, with an extended programme of official selections and finalists showcased online throughout the festival week in November.

Physical screenings and networking events will take place at the House of Waterford and SETU's College Street Campus while the festival is ongoing, with online presentations and screenings scheduled throughout the week for international audiences.
