Man with 182 previous convictions is jailed for Waterford city crime spree

A 48-year-old man has been jailed for a series of criminal damage and theft offences he committed in Waterford city.
The crimes were committed in 2024 by Christopher Dutton, of Muskerry Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin, a man with 182 previous convictions.
On March 14, 2024, Dutton stole €113 worth of clothes from Dunne's Stores in City Square.
On the same day, he broke the lock to the front door of the Anchorage Guesthouse on the quay.
Two days later, Dutton smashed the windows of two cars parked at Patrick Street and at Mayors Walk. The total damages amounted to over €1,400.
On this date he also stole a black leather jacket and a parcel from a car at Griffith Place.
Judge John Cheatle, presiding over Waterford District Court, sentenced the man to six months in prison for the offences.
