Man tried to break handcuffs and was aggressive to Gardai at Travelodge in Waterford
Travelodge on the Cork Road, Waterford
A man appeared in court last week over an incident that took place at the Travelodge in Waterford.
On January 1, 2026, gardaí attended the location and observed Ross Draper of 34 Kilcronan Court, Clondalkin, Dublin, in an intoxicated state.
Draper became aggressive to Gardaí and told them to “f*ck off”. He was placed into a patrol car and attempted to break his handcuffs.
He has three previous convictions, for theft, threats to kill and intimidation of a witness.
Draper was charged contrary to Section 6 of the Public Order Act. A count of Section 4 Public Order was taken into consideration.
Draper had previously received a two-month sentence for the incident from the District Court. In Circuit Court last week Judge Eugene O’Kelly affirmed the sentence but chose to suspend it for a period of 12 months.
