Man pleads guilty to money-laundering

He pleaded guilty at Waterford Courthouse.

A young man has pleaded guilty to a charge of money-laundering at Waterford Circuit Court. 

Aaron Mambi (21) of 76 Abbeylands, Ferrybank, Waterford, committed the offence in the State on a date between November 24, 2021 and January 12, 2022. It was heard in Court that the proceeds of the crime was valued at €45,380.92.  

Defence counsel Gareth Hayden BL requested a probation and welfare report for the accused. Mr Hayden stated that the offence dates 'some time back' and that Mambi had 'just turned 18 at the time'. 

Judge Eugene O'Kelly noted that there were victims of the offence who are based in Norway. 

Mambi will re-appear in Circuit Court in early January, 2026.
