Man is jailed for burglary at popular Waterford city café
The burglary occurred late at night and there was a co-accused involved.
A 30-year-old man was jailed last week for a burglary he committed at Park Lodge Café in the People’s Park, Waterford city.
On August 24, 2025, the man damaged a window at the café and took a number of personal items from inside.
The burglary occurred late at night and there was a co-accused involved.
The cost of damage to the window was approximately €500.
The man was identified by gardaí via CCTV.
Three additional offences, which the man pleaded guilty to, were taken into account during sentencing.
On July 5, 2025, he stole €33 worth of alcohol from Supervalu in Kilbarry.
On the same date, he was arrested for a public order matter at University Hospital Waterford. The man was very intoxicated and was causing a disturbance, the court heard.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to notify gardaí of an address change under the Sex Offenders Act 2001.
The man has previous convictions for possessing child pornography.
Judge John Cheatle, presiding over last week’s hearing of Waterford District Court, sentenced the man to six months for the burglary offence.
The remaining offences were taken into consideration.
