The matter was heard in Waterford Courthouse.

A man was found in possession of over €20,000 worth of drugs in his Waterford home.

Sebastian Wieckowski, of 33 Cluain A Laoi, Cork Road, was charged with possession of drugs contrary to Section 15A of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

On June 31, 2024, Gardaí executed a search warrant on his home and discovered cannabis, cocaine and amphetamines in a large sports bag. Two blocks of amphetamines were recovered, weighed at 770g and valued at €11,610.

Wieckowski claimed he was made to hold the sports bag for "someone he didn't wish to name".

Defence counsel David Bulbulia BL said his client was a law-abiding man who found himself facing "extremely dangerous criminal intimidation".

Mr Bulbulia said: "Of course he should have gone to the guards, it was an ill-advised decision. He's 49 years old, never been in trouble with the law before."

Judge Eugene O'Kelly gave the defendant a suspended sentence of three years and nine months.
