Man accused of murdering Waterford woman charged with assaulting a male on same date

A man charged with murder in relation to the death of a woman in Waterford City has now also been charged with assaulting a male on the same date.
On April 27, Tomas Marvanek (39), allegedly murdered mother-of-three Yveta Donovalova at Grange Heights in Waterford city.
He has now also been charged with assaulting a male on the same date, at the same location.
Marvanek, who has an address at 47 Grange Heights, has been in custody since the alleged murder.
He has been making regular court appearances while he awaits directions to progress to trial.
Last week at Waterford Courthouse, Gardaí arrested and handed Marvanek with a new charge, shortly before he was due to appear in Waterford District Court.
It is now alleged that on the same date as the murder, Tomas Marvanek also assaulted a male at Grange Heights.
He has been charged with assault causing harm, contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
In reply after being cautioned by gardaí, Marvanek said: “I’m not aware of any assault.”
The man’s defence solicitor informed Judge Kevin Staunton that a book of evidence in respect of the alleged murder and the alleged assault is at an advanced stage and almost ready to be served.
Marvanek was remanded in custody to August 4.
