'Major problems' with logging system raised at Waterford council meeting
The issue was raised over a query about CCTV.
An issue arose over the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system at Waterford Council.
Councillor Joeanne Bailey asked the Executive at a recent meeting about plans to install CCTV in the Milbrook area in the city, after a series of complaints over antisocial behaviour. She asked if the team could meet with the residents over "serious problems" in the locality.
She then went on: "I'm having major problems with CRM and getting major problems with responses from the Executive and staff. It's not working.
"We're here to represent the people and to ask questions. I'm getting emails back to say, 'this should be logged on CRM', and some questions aren't for CRM. But when I email that, I'm still not getting a response back. It's a waste of time."
She added: "I had a question about CRM logging CCTV in the area for weeks now and I still haven't gotten a response."
A member of the Executive explained: "I want to apologise for the lack of response, that’s where we get our evidence based on when we’re reviewing them. We won’t be taking on new areas for now, until the Government reviews them annually. Around 30 CCTV cameras will be under review before any decisions are to be made."
Another member of the Executive stated that there were issues "internally and externally" with CRM and confirmed to Cllr Bailey that IT were "engaging" over the issue.
Cllr Bailey responded: “Some of the items, like CCTV, isn’t on CRM, that is the thing.”
