Major housing development planned in Waterford City
Plans have been lodged for a major 243 dwelling residential development in Kilbarry on the outskirts of Waterford City.
The planning application submitted by Belindere Homes Limited, also includes provision for a children facility.
The development will consist of the demolition and removal of two existing agricultural structures, a barn and a shed.
A total of 243 no. dwellings, totalling 23,543.10 sq m gross floor space is planned, with associated private open spaces.
The proposed dwellings will comprise of 76 four-bed semi-detached houses, 48 three-bed semi-detached houses, 10 three-bed duplexes, 10 two-bed corner apartments, 33 two-bed terrace apartments and 66 one-bed terrace apartments.
The planned childcare facility will range in height between one and two storeys, and will include a private outdoor play area and dedicated vehicle parking/drop-off spaces.
391 associated car parking spaces will be provided, along with 406 bicycle parking spaces
The development will further consist of boundary treatments, public open spaces, hard and soft landscaping, roads and pedestrian walkways, public lighting and pedestrian accesses/permeability routes.
Primary vehicular and pedestrian access to the proposed development will be provided via a culverted watercourse road crossing extending from the existing Sycamore Avenue/Oak Drive/Ash Square road south of Lacken Wood Residential Estate.
Secondary pedestrian access will be provided to Cherry Drive/Sycamore Avenue road of Lacken Wood Residential Estate.
The existing agricultural laneway access from Lacken Road leading into the proposed development site from the west, will be maintained and utilised as a secondary pedestrian access, with part integrated within the proposed development's internal central road network.
