The lorry driver pleaded guilty and was handed a two-year driving disqualification.

A 32-year-old lorry driver appeared in Waterford District Court last week regarding a drink driving offence.

On the day in question, Booi Elton Hendriks, of Marsh Meadows, New Ross, Wexford, was stopped by gardaí who were on patrol and was taken to Waterford Garda Station.

He pleaded guilty and was handed a two-year driving disqualification.

Judge Staunton described the offence as “an incredibly silly thing to do”.

“He will now lose his job over a few drinks,” he added.
