Local disability centre is inspected by HIQA

The report was published by HIQA.

An inspection of Nova Residential Services in Waterford City by the Health Information and Quality Services (HIQA) found the disability centre compliant in all but one area.

The facility which is run by The Brothers of Charity Services, was found to be non-compliant in three areas during a previous inspection in November (READ MORE).

The most recent inspection noted improvements, however the centre was deemed non-compliant in the ‘Protection’ category.

While the provider had a safeguarding plan in place, this was not effective at all times of the day and night, the inspector noted.

There was evidence of two safeguarding incidents that occurred recently.

In addition, one residents family member had hired additional support for their relative. This was in place for three weeks and the provider had no oversight of the person the family had hired. This required review.
