Ireland South MEP vows to promote Waterford Airport in the EU

Waterford Airport
Ireland South MEP and EU Transport Committee member Cynthia Ní Mhurchú has said she will lobby for EU support for Waterford Airport.
In a statement ahead of today's special meeting at Waterford City and County Council, Ms Ní Mhurchú also said she was calling on the government to include Waterford Airport in the Regional Airport Programme going forward.
She said the injection of €30 million in private funding is a significant breakthrough for the development of the airport and in the South East.
"This investment has the potential to transform connectivity and economic opportunity across the South East.
"I am calling on all councillors and stakeholders to come together in support of this once-in-a-generation opportunity for Waterford and the wider region," said Ní Mhurchú.
Ms Ní Mhurchú said she will explore all EU funding available and sit down with representatives from Airports Council International airline association and airlines themselves across Europe, with whom she has a working relationship, to promote Waterford as a destination from which to operate.
