Emergency services attended to an injured walker in county Waterford over the weekend.

South Eastern Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) received a call from An Garda Síochána at 11:11 on Sunday to assist the walker on the North ridge of Coumshingaun. 

"This section of the loop is proving to be very unforgiving on legs & ankles" a statement from SEMRA said.

Rescue 117 lowered a winchman to assess the casualty and SEMRA members were on scene at 12:38 to assist by operating the highline. 

The casualty was brought to Waterford Airport and transferred from there to hospital by the National Ambulance Service. 

"We wish the injured walker a speedy recovery" a spokesperson said.
