South Eastern Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) responded to a call to assist an injured walker above Coumshingaun Lake over the weekend.
SEMRA received the call on Saturday at 3:30pm from An Garda Síochána and the National Ambulance Service (NAS) to assist a walker with a lower leg injury.
SEMRA team members responded to the mast at Kilclooney Woods and and made their way up to the casualty’s location.
The casualty was assessed and their leg placed in a vacuum splint.
An Irish Coast Guard helicopter was on the scene shortly after and a winchman was lowered to further assess the injured walker and prepare them for winching into the helicopter.
SEMRA team members assisted with the hi-line operation as the winchman and walker were successfully winched on board.
A stand down was issued at 6:40pm and and everyone got off the hill safely.
