The Irish landscape is at the centre of new exhibition in Waterford

'Creations of a Colourful Mind' is the title of the joint painting exhibition by Marja van Kampen, Olivia O’Keeffe and Martina Furlong at The Old Market House Arts Centre, Dungarvan.

Poet, Áine Uí Fhoghlú opened the exhibition on Saturday, May 9.

This is a national touring exhibition by the three artists, which previously exhibited in Cork, Clare, Tipperary, Wicklow, Wexford and Laois.

Due to the success of their exhibition at the Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre last Spring, they are now back in county Waterford to celebrate their tenth exhibition together.

Not only is their painting collection well-travelled, but so are these three women artists.

Marja van Kampen is originally from The Netherlands. She has lived in the South of France as well as 30 years in Galway, and currently lives in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. She was awarded ‘Most Creative Abstract Artist’ in the Irish Enterprise Awards 2024.

Olivia O’Keeffe, is originally from Watergrasshill, Cork, and has lived in the USA, but currently lives the best part of 30 years in the Netherlands, having completed a BA in both Fine Art and Art Education there.

Martina Furlong, born and raised in Galbally, Wexford, studied at the Limerick School of Art and lived 16 years in London before returning to Oulart, Wexford, where she currently lives.

For this exhibition, each artist undergoes a journey of exploration of nature; from the ever-changing colours and textures of land and sea to the intricate details of flora and fauna. This results in a dynamic collection of paintings of the Irish landscape.

The Old Market House Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 5pm (lunchtime closed 1.30 to 2.30pm) and on Saturday, from 1pm to 5pm.  This exhibition continues until early July.

Admission is free.
