Ireland's oldest city will celebrate its rich Norse heritage with a range of tours, talks, demonstrations and storytelling events, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into life in a bustling Viking settlement.
Learn how the city's earliest inhabitants lived, traded and travelled, while exploring the lasting impact they had on Waterford's development. From its origins as a Viking stronghold to its evolution into a thriving medieval city, the programme shines a light on a pivotal chapter in Waterford's history.

On August 14, at 8 pm, the above concert will take place in St Mary's Catholic Church, Waterford. Fans of Tolkien's epic fantasy world can experience the music of The Lord of the Rings in a special concert at St Mary's Catholic Church. Performed by the Mystery Ensemble, the event will feature Howard Shore's iconic soundtrack, bringing audiences on a musical journey through Middle-earth.

Celebrate National Heritage Week at St Carthage's Cathedral with a day of history, music and community. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the medieval cathedral, live performances from local musicians and family-friendly heritage and wildlife activities.
Tea and homemade cake will be available throughout the day in support of the Cathedral Restoration Fund. Admission is free, with all ages welcome. The event will take place from 11am to 4pm.
