Gaeilge sa Ghalltacht a Dó interviewer Catherine Foley with guest Fiachra Ó Céilleachair at the WLR FM studios
In WLR’s upcoming radio series, Gaeilge sa Ghalltacht a Dó, a distinguished group of 10 individuals share stories about childhood, work and family life as Gaeilge.
Talking to writer Catherine Foley, guests in this second series of Gaeilge sa Ghalltacht describe their life-long relationship with the language and how being a gaeilgóir has had an impact on their life.

Every interview was recorded in Irish by producer and director RoseAnn Foley and presenter and producer Catherine Foley, of the An Corsaiceach production company, in Baile na nGall, An Rinn, apart from one episode recorded at the WLR FM studios in Waterford.
In the second program of the series, Séamus Ó Riain remembers his childhood growing up near the city’s cathedral on Barronstrand Street and attending the Christian Brothers primary school. He recounts the steps he followed in his career as an engineer, how he met his future wife Máire Ní Mhurchadha, and how they have maintained a love of the language all through their family life.
In another episode, Fiachra Ó Céilleachair tells Catherine about his parents Tomás Ó Céilleachair and Ann Mulqueen. He recalls the death of his wife Siobhán in 2013, when the oldest of their children was eight, and he talks about the importance of the language both within and outside of the Gaeltacht.
Is é teama na sraithe nua seo ná grá don teanga, and each week a different guest shows this by highlighting how speaking Irish has made a difference to their life.
With funding from Coimisiún na Meán, this new series begins on WLR FM on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:30pm and will run over 10 weeks. Bainigí taitneamh as agus bígí ag éisteacht.
