High tempo gig coming to Waterford

Skinner

DIY slouch rock musician, Skinner, will make his Waterford debut at Subterranean Sounds next week, when he brings his six-piece band to Phil Grimes Pub on Saturday, February 8.

Based in Dublin, Skinner writes, records and produces songs about growing up and overcoming a ‘dirt-flecked 21st century existence’.

Skinner is the project of the Dublin based multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Aaron Corcoran, who was inspired by the New York 'No Wave' scene in the 70s and early 80s, for his debut record, along with acts like The B52s, James Chance and the Contortions and ESG, through to alt-rock touchstones Pixies and Morphine.

All of this is combined with a talent for grunge-nodding, self-production, and pockets of elevated instrumentation that oozes through his music.

After making noise with his widely praised, ‘Geek Love’ EP, last year, Skinner is now kicking off his 2025, with the release of his eagerly awaited debut album, ‘New Wave Vaudeville.’  The project references the New Wave Vaudeville music variety freak show that took place at the 57 Club in New York from 1978 to 1983.

Special guest on the night is local rising star Echo Northstar.

Tickets are €10, and available from Eventbrite.ie
