This week, Waterford District Court heard details in relation to an alleged incident that occurred in Waterford on May 12.

On the day in question, gardaí were called to a residential area after receiving a call from a resident.

The resident informed gardaí that a neighbour of hers had waved a gun at her. No words were exchanged between the pair during the incident.

When gardaí arrived, they found a toy gun in the area.

During this week's hearing, Judge Kevin Staunton accepted jurisdiction to the District Court.

The man's defence solicitor said that “urgent psychiatric evaluation” is needed for his client before the matter can progress further.

Judge Staunton directed that a psychiatric report be available to the court by June 16. The man was remanded in custody.
