Gardaí in Waterford are appealing for information following the robbery of a young woman's handbag while she was walking to work.

The incident occurred at approximately 7.15am on July 25, near the green area of the Ardkeen Village housing estate.

The woman told gardaí that as she was walking to work, a man pulled her bag from her hand and the contents were emptied.

The man grabbed her purse and ran away.

Gardaí are seeking CCTV footage from householders.

There is no description as of yet of the suspect, but investigations are ongoing.
