An injured walker was successfully attended to by emergency services near Holy Year Cross on the outskirts of county Waterford over the weekend.

South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) received a call at 14:55 last Saturday from the National Ambulance Service to assist a fallen walker with a lower leg injury.

NAS paramedics on the scene splinted the injured walkers ankle and provided pain relief.

SEMRA members were able to drive the team Land Rover right into their location and the casualty was able to sit into the vehicle with some assistance.

They were driven out to the Holy Year Cross trail to the waiting ambulance.

Everyone got safely off the hill at 16:48.

A SEMRA spokesperson said via social media, "we wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
