A fatal incident involving the collision of a bus and an e-scooter will be raised for mention in court on June 3.

The collision, which occurred on the Cork Road, Waterford city, in the early hours of June 27, 2024, resulted in the deaths of Gilbert Collins (15) and Avuzwa Idris (17). Driver of the bus, Adrian Doyle, of Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank, was charged last year with dangerous driving causing death in connection with the incident.

Mr. Doyle’s Defence Counsel, Mr. Gareth Hayden BL, informed Judge Eugene O’Kelly during the hearing at Waterford Circuit Court that the trial is not ready to commence. It will therefore be raised for mention in Waterford Circuit Court on June 3, with a trial date to follow thereafter.
