The students of VTOS Retail Studies course in Waterford held a very successful Christmas Fair recently with the aim of raising money for local charities.
Last September, the students agreed to host a Christmas Fair and it proved very successful and the overall aim this time around was to build oin that.

Another reason for the initiative was as a means to say thank you from the Ukranian community in Waterford to the people of the Déise for their welcome and generosity.
A lot of people have settled here from Ukraine and they have become very much part of the fabric of the local community.

A raffle took place this year which was very well supported and there was also music from the Ukranian Emeralds.
One of those involved with the initiative commented on the day to Waterford News & Star: "We planned, prepared and organised the Fair that came together so beautifully today."
"Along the way, VTOS Health Care joined us as well as Ukrainian students throughout WCFE," she said.

The students decided every detail of a day that was a huge success.
The local community also supported the raffle by donating generously to it in terms of items.
"With teachers playing a supporting role, the students put in hours of time to make this now annual event, a huge success," said one of those involved.

The women's Centre and Helping Hands will be the beneficiaries of the event this year.
Both organisations are worthy beneficiaries thanks to the work they do within the local community.
The event raised over €1,200 much to the delight of all those involved
