Bus driver returned for trial at Waterford Courthouse

The bus driver charged with dangerous driving causing the death of two teenagers has been returned for trial.
The trial, which caused the death of two teenagers who were travelling on an e-scooter in Waterford almost two years ago, came before Judge Eugene O'Kelly at Waterford Circuit Criminal Court on Wednesday.
The collision, which occurred on the Cork Road in Waterford city in the early hours of June 27, 2024, resulted in the deaths of Gilbert Collins and Avuzwa Idris.
The teenagers were aged 15 and 17 years, respectively, when the collision between the bus and the e-scooter took place.
Adrian Doyle, of Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank, Co. Waterford, was later charged with dangerous driving in connection with the incident.
On Wednesday the matter once again came before Judge O'Kelly.
The case will be back before Waterford Circuit Criminal Court next week with Judge O'Kelly setting on Tuesday, June 9, when the trial is expected to commence.
