The Big Beach Clean, or Glanadh na dTránna, is taking place on Saturday, September 21, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
The cleanup is part of An Taisce Clean Coasts, to help keep the beaches on the Helvick peninsula in the Waterford Gaeltacht looking pristine.
On the An Rinn peninsula lies the only Gaeltacht on the Irish south coast an area where Irish is still spoken today.
Everyone is welcome to drop by and do their part to keep this part of the world in its beautiful, natural state.
Bags and gloves will be provided at the car parks in the four locations: the Cunnigar, Poll a’ Phúca, Ballinagoul and Helvick.
According to the organisers: "We take great pride in our beautiful Gaeltacht located on the south side of Dungarvan Bay and were honoured as Clean Coasts Community Group of the Year 2021.
"We are grateful to all our volunteers, to Waterford Council and An Taisce Clean Coasts and Dungarvan CLAMS group for their support on an ongoing basis."
The beach clean-ups are an important community based activity as they help keep local areas tidy for visitors and locals. All help with the initiative will be greatly appreciated on the day.
