Appeal made following serious assault in Waterford
The man was out jogging when he was assaulted
Gardai in Waterford are appealing for information following a serious assault in the city.
A spokesperson for the force said that approximately 7.10pm on Monday, June 8, Gardaí at Waterford were notified of an alleged assault at St John’s River Walk, Tramore Road.
A male, who had been out for jog on St John’s River Walk, had been removed by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford with serious but non-life threating injuries.
The spokesperson said the young man was jogging on Monday evening between 6.35pm and 6.55pm when he was approached by two males who were unknown to him.
The two males both appeared to be in their late 20’s and were both wearing blue.
It's also believed one possibly had brown hair and beard.
"Following some questions directed at the jogger by the suspects, they began to assault the victim by kicking and punching him and he sustained multiple lacerations on his hands and arms," said the Garda.
It's believed the incident occurred sometime between 6.35pm and 6.55pm and people would be familiar with the area as it is just opposite the Kingfisher Gym, by the footbridge over St John's River into Ashley Avenue.
"If you were on the Tramore Road or in Ashley Avenue or the surrounding area at this time and can provide any information in relation to these two suspects, please contact the Crime Unit at Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300 or you can leave an audio message on the confidential line on 1800 666 111," said the Garda spokesperson.
