Air pollution in Waterford City to be measured

KIMO Launch at Blackwater Eco Tours Villierstown
Following the success of 'Clean Air Together' in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick cities, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that the next citizen science project will take place in Waterford.
A spokesperson for Waterford City & County Council said the Clean Air Together Waterford City is an exciting citizen science project led, by the Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the local authority.
The project will also receive support from Kilkenny County Council and the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce.
As part of the project it's hoped that 400 participants will be recruited to measure levels of the traffic-related air pollutant, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), across Waterford City and its environs.

The project will have four main objectives: To increase public knowledge and awareness; To help people better understand and take action to improve air quality in their local area; To use the data to help inform EPA air quality modelling and to work collaboratively with stakeholders in support of relevant national policy.
The EPA is currently accepting expressions of interest while the official launch of the Clean Air Together Waterford project is due to take place later this month..
Anyone interested in participating in the project and who would like to find out more details can do so by completing the online form, accessible through waterfordcouncil.ie
The EPA will then notify them of the project’s launch closer to the date.
Participation in the project is free of charge.
