40th anniversary and certificate celebrations at Waterford's WYTEC

Waterford Youth Training and Education Centre (WYTEC), which celebrated 40 years in existence, held a Presentation of Certificates Awards Ceremony on November 20 for past and present learners, marking both auspicious occasions on the same day.
The awards were presented by Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Jason Murphy.

WYTEC provides training and education to young people aged 16-21 years, giving priority to young unemployed people. There is a continuous intake of learners in the centre.
Learners on the day received certification in the following areas: Employability Skills at QQI Level 3 in Practical Skills, Hospitality Skills and Catering Skills; Retail Skills at QQI Level 4; General Learning at QQI Level 4; and Office Skills at QQI Level 4.

The learners received these certificates after fully completing or partially completing the following courses available at WYTEC: Hospitality Skills Course at QQI Level 3; Practical Construction Skills Course at QQI Level 3; Pathway to Employment Course at QQI Level 4; Practical Catering at QQI Level 3; Retail Skills at QQI Level 4; Office Skills QQI Level 4; and Linked Work Experience (Deciding Your Future).
A very enjoyable and memorable day was had by all.

WWETB was represented by Susan Sheahan, Development Officer, and Richard Grant, Community Training Officer. Also attending the ceremony on the day were WYTEC’s Board of Management, Chairperson Danny Murphy, Martin Stockdale and Dorothea Keating. Representatives from surrounding schools and supporting services were also in attendance.

Rebecca Ryan, Manager, WYTEC, congratulated all learners who received well-deserved awards on the day. QQI major award and component awards were received by 53 past and current learners.
