Your Fitness: Prepare for January first steps

Comparison really is the thief of joy when it comes to your fitness journey
Your Fitness: Prepare for January first steps

When it comes to introducing some new behaviours, start small and build as you get more confident.

As we approach the new year, many people will be keen to hit the ground running with your health and fitness.

Many people will be looking to put their best foot forward as they head into 2026 and this is great! It is important, however, that we don’t bite off more than we can chew when it comes to setting yourself up for long-term change and success!

I’d imagine people’s initial goal starting out will be to develop some strong habits for life.

Focus on what little things you are doing already. If these habits are helpful towards your goals, use them to your advantage!

Add some healthy habits to these tasks. For example, if you go for a walk each evening - why not pair this with a high-protein meal afterwards?

When it comes to introducing some new behaviours, start small and build as you get more confident.

If you have never found a way to consistently hit the gym long term in the past, aim for 1-2 good quality sessions per week. This is more than enough starting out and gives you some time to adapt to your new regime.

My last piece of advice will be to run your own race. Comparison really is the thief of joy when it comes to your fitness journey.

Focus on doing better and improving day to day. You will have good weeks and bad weeks, trust the process and keep moving forward.

A rolling stone gathers no moss! Zoom out every now and again and see where you are in comparison to when you started.

Small efforts over time are what makes the difference!
