Portlaw United FC

A brilliant performance by Portlaw United U9s in their league game against Villa FC. Portlaw continue to improve each week and produced an excellent display, with some great goals from both sides. A big thank you to all parents for travelling once again, and to Villa FC for hosting. Well done to all the team, and to our goal scorers on the day, Oskar, Freddie and Louis.

Portlaw Camogie Club

Well done to our U8 and U10 teams who attended their first blitz of the year recently in Ferrybank. For many of our U8’s and the new faces to our U10’s this was their first Camogie game ever and we are so proud of them and hope they enjoyed it and had some fun in the sun. They played three games each in the morning against Ferrybank, Clonea and Ballyduff. They have an action packed year ahead with more blitz on the way.

Well done to last week’s U8 Player of the Week, Gilly, and U10 Player of the Week, Maebh. Keep up the great work, girls. Congratulations also to our U16 camogie team who took part in Round 1 of the U16 Championship away to Ballyduff Upper.

There were some excellent passages of play and great goal attempts, and while the girls were unfortunate not to convert more chances, with only three scores between the sides there is plenty for the team to build on as the championship progresses. Result: Portlaw 0‑3 Ballyduff Upper 2‑4. Next game: Home to Tallow on Thursday, May 7th.

Portlaw GAA Club

It was a great evening recently as Portlaw GAA hosted a 'Movember: Ahead of the Game' workshop, facilitated by Killian O’Gara and Conor Bohane. Important conversations around wellbeing and looking out for one another took centre stage throughout the session. Sincere thanks to everyone who organised, facilitated and attended the workshop. Your effort and commitment made it a very worthwhile and positive event. A special word of praise to the lads who attended — a credit to the club. The manner in which you engaged and supported one another reflects the strong and proud culture within Portlaw GAA. Well done to all involved.

A big thank you to Clonea GAA Club for travelling to play our U6/U7 hurlers recently in the alley. A number of 5‑a‑side games were played, ensuring that all children enjoyed plenty of game time and lots of touches on the ball. Well done to all the young players and their coaches for a great evening of hurling.
